Bar Attachment Denture

The Bar Attachment Denture treatment concept was developed to provide edentulous patients with an efficient and effective restoration using only four implants to support a full dental arch prosthesis. The prosthesis is typically a permanent, screw-retained replacement of the entire upper and / or lower jaw.

Conventional implant retained prosthesis utilize six or more implants in the maxilla and five or more implants in the mandible. The Bar Attachment Denture surgical technique avoids anatomic structures of the upper and lower jaw by placing implants at various angles. This may alleviate the need for bone grafting and allow for placement of longer implants without a negative biomechanical effect on the final prosthesis.

Are You A Candidate For Bar Attachment Denture?

If you are considering dental implants, your mouth must be examined thoroughly and your medical and dental history reviewed. Likely a series of radiographs will be obtained including 3-dimensional imaging to determine location of anatomic structures as well as to evaluate the amount and quality of bone. Occasionally, locations of anatomic structures as well as an inadequate amount of bone will be present and bone grafting may be recommended.

What Type Of Anesthesia Is Used?

The majority of dental implants and bone graft can be performed in the office under local anesthesia, with or without general anesthesia.

Do Implants Need Special Care?

Once the implants are in place, they will serve you well for many years if you take care of them and keep your mouth healthy. This means taking the time for good oral hygiene (brushing and flossing) and keeping regular appointments with your dental specialists.
